Having come from a background as a psychotherapist, even though I was ‘self-employed’ for over 20 years, it never occurred to me that it was a business! I loved working part time because my two boys (Danny and John) were young, and it afforded me the opportunity to be room mom, and do all the play dates and things I wanted to.

But then I stumbled into the entrepreneurial world. Not consciously, but you know how sometimes our souls just take us on a path that will forever change our course.

After I got my coaching certification, I started a coaching business. But again…I had no idea how to market, what to do, or even what was possible. The problem was that I had no role model to follow.

It wasn’t until I purchased a local business development/networking organization in Phoenix called Shared Vision Network that it all clicked. Clicked and crashed I should say!

Here I ran into every part of me that didn’t know what to do to take a business and make it bigger. I bumped into not knowing how to manage people because remember, I had been SELF employed for over two decades. And I sure didn’t know how to outsource to make my life easier.

In fact there was one moment that really stands out for me. It was about 2am and I was doing data entry. (I didn’t know about how to use virtual assistants back then.) I was exhausted and so overwhelmed, and felt like I had so much work ahead of me, and as I was sitting there focusing on doing a task I hated and was really bad at, I said:

You see, I hadn’t yet understood so many things about creating success in a business. After that meltdown, I immediately hired my first VA and endeavored to learn the secrets to learning how to make a business profitable and how to be happy as a business owner.

In the beginning, what I found was that the “outer game” secrets like marketing, sales, copywriting, strategy, are pretty easy to either learn or hire out. I was blessed to be mentored by the industries finest coaches around, but I still kept bumping into that invisible thing that kept success eluding me.

And that thing…MY MINDSET. Here I had been a psychotherapist for years and had mastered knowing the inner workings of the mind, but had failed to connect the dots for my own life and business.

I wasn’t able to charge much for my services, unconsciously sabotaged myself when it came to marketing and getting my message out, and spent years spinning around in confusion and frustration.

So instead of hiring another business coach or marketer, I hired someone who would help me focus on my inner game. He took me on the deep dive to discover where I was playing small, what scared me, and what patterns I still had that kept me from the success I know I should have been getting.

I had been an expert in this area, but it wasn’t until I moved into the entrepreneurial world that my “stuff” came up to show me where I was stuck. And it was hard work. Lots of tears, a bit of fear, confusion, and finally loads of surrendering to the next greater version of myself. And it worked!

I have clients who pay good money for my techniques, and the most important part is that the courageous individuals I get to work with have huge breakthroughs.

They get the benefits of my work and can short cut the rather long learning curve that I had to go through. They often can recoup all of their coaching fees in the first few months because I can show them how to fix the mindset blocks, and also the money leaks their business has. Mostly, they get to have a business they love, get to serve how they want to, and find what makes them special in the marketing world.

People loved these exercises because they finally get an understanding about why they work so hard but can’t seem to get ahead. You’ll learn about the many things you are probably not even aware of that are influencing you and your decision making ability.

Then I go into marketing mistakes with an hour audio interview where I cover the seven mistakes and do some live coaching so you can see how fast things can shift when you know what to do. If you stop making just one of these mistakes, you can save yourself thousands of dollars annually.

After you listen to the audio, you’ll get a 26 page workbook on marketing so you can walk yourself through the powerful questions we need to ask ourselves as a business owner. It will also show you in more detail about how to position yourself, own your brilliance, and get the visibility, credibility and expert status that make it all work.

Some of this is more than likely either the foundational pieces that you may not have done, or if you are like most of us, as you grow and your business changes, you have to go back and rework the “messaging” so that you attract the right clients for where you are.

One of the main things that my new coaching clients always ask for is help in “knowing what to do next” because most of us bright entrepreneurial types love to have lots of irons in the fire, but that can also be the reason we aren’t profitable. How nice to know exactly what your year, month and week will be and what you put your time and energy on.

The final piece is an audio of affirmations designed to get you “re-programmed” to think like a successful business owner/marketer. Listen to this regularly to train your brain to think differently about sales and marketing, time, money, and success.

MINDSET MASTERY

Maybe there were a lot of kids in your family, so you never got to go to college or get an advanced degree. Here you are today, a self made business owner. Everyone around thinks you have it all together, but you feel deep down that you are a fraud. If they only knew that you don’t have a degree. If they found out how insecure you are about taking those next big steps.

So when you get coaching and somehow the big dream you have for yourself that you’ve never shared before rolls off your tongue and your coach says, “Great… let’s get to the work of making that happen,” you freak!

You don’t see yourself as being able to achieve it. It’s ok to be a little successful, but to get everything you want? Whoa! This will never happen. That’s too much. So you continue the cycle of getting uncomfortable, sabotaging, and staying stuck right where you are.

What’s yours? Dig deep. Find the beliefs operating in your life today that are holding you and/or your business back. That’s the first part of the equation. The next is to have you examine where you learned it. So many of my clients have “ah ha” moments when we do this work. Once you have awareness of the faulty pattern, you can let it go and create beliefs that serve you much better. The problem is that most of us go around being unconscious of what the beliefs are that drive us, and keep us from getting what we really want.

What is it for you? Take a courageous look at the beliefs that you live with. Ask yourself what they are, and where you learned them. And again, this isn’t about blame or judgment about your parents or upbringing, but about a realistic assessment of the things that are holding you back today.
