Blind Spot to Brilliance – Inner Marketing

I call this the Inner Marketing Process.
You need to find the thing that is unique only to you, so when you land on it, you feel alive, clients resonate with your message, and growing your business becomes easy. Here’s what you have to do to find the Brilliance that is living in your blind-spot:
Find it, Own it, Package it, Market it, and then Sell it.

And by skipping the “Find it, Own it” part, your business looks just a bit bland. People can’t really know what you do or why YOU are different. And you may not feel like who you are is really fitting into the current business you have. Or if you have found it and are working from your strengths, there is often a tendency to devalue and undercharge because it comes too easy!
A “regular” business coach or marketing expert would tell you to change things on the OUTSIDE: the words you use, the color of your logo, your sales script, more social media…
But NONE of these problems will be solved with an outside solution.
They can only be changed by looking at your
inner marketing plan
- The thoughts that circulate in your head when you’re in a sales conversation
- The fear of revealing more aspects of YOU and your history, your quirks or what you have overcome.
- The little voice inside that makes you feel small when trying to describe what you do
- What crosses your mind when someone says YES or NO to your offers
- Your true belief in the value YOU provide and how your business is a great solution
- That discomfort when you look around and see others soaring past you…even when you know that your skills are probably ten times better
- And that gnawing sense that you aren’t serving your purpose in the world because deep down, you know you are in your own way
Do any of these sound familiar? If you are like most business owners who have been at this awhile, your mindset and the way you need to speak about your business will go though many different revisions because YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS ARE GROWING!
And as you do, your clients change, the work you do evolves, and truth be told…sometimes it’s hard to nail down how to talk about the magic you bring, and have the mindset to own it big and boldly.
So what do most business owners do? Either nothing, or they model what the latest guru tells ‘em to do, but without doing the Deep PERSONAL WORK needed or they are at risk of ending up sounding like everyone else.
(And that personal work can look like asking the right questions of yourself, studying aspects of your life and how they relate to your current business ‘identity’ and being bold enough to be fully who you are in your marketing message.)
But not doing this could lead to starting to alienate or confuse your clients because you can’t confidently and fearlessly shout from the rooftops the great results you are capable of getting for the people who hire you.
But even if you are willing and committed to diving in, there’s one thing that will very likely stump you:
“Your brilliance lives in your blind spot”
Which means that you may not have access to THE VERY THING that would make your audience come running. Our blind spots are the places we just can’t access. It’s the thing that others see in us, but for some reason, to get there is like diving deep in the ocean to find the buried treasure. It takes work, a supportive partner, and enough time/space to do it the right way. We have blind spots in our mindset, and blind spots about what makes us unique.
Here’s a little test… Can you answer the #1 question that needs to be crystal clear for a client to say “yes” to working with you?
“If there were 100 of you and your competition in a room, and they all had equal credentials, education, results, and cost, why should someone hire YOU?”
Try to answer it but take out any statements about how long you have been in business, how great you are, etc.
Kinda weird, I know…but the REAL reason folks are hiring you of course is for the results they’ll get but in order to attract your best clients, you have to CONNECT to them. That’s the tricky part. You need to Find it. The ‘thing’ in you that is so special, so unique, and so darn cool that someone will say yes to being with you on their journey.
Here’s an example of what was a challenge for one of my clients–
Monique had a money leak in that she couldn’t talk about what she does in a way that would land for her idea market. When we worked on her messaging she immediately had a huge breakthrough in her ability to market and sell her services.
I have known and worked with Therese over two years and have seen her blossom into expressing her uniqueness which has been an inspiration for me. One of her unique expressions is that she has become a relationship marketing master by handling the ‘inner marketing’ aspect.

This is where we really look at how you are communicating your brilliance. Two things are going to happen….you may either keep what you have and just find more and better ways to communicate that. No but that’s a good question. Here’s what I know….the process of finding your unique message and getting your voice out in the world in a powerful way is an ever changing one.
